Description

Better version of a old map.

1915: As the war rages on in Europe, things look peaceful in South America. Until March 5th, a telegram was sent from the German Military adviser himself, Erich von Falkenhayn to Venezuelan president Victorino Marquez Bustillos. The telegram talked about Venezuela entering the war on Germany's side to take over Guyana a territory long been disputed between Venezuela and the British Empire. The president agrees. Over the next year the Germans gave the Venezuelan's tactics, blueprints, guns, and materials. Across Venezuela recruiting campaigns begin. By May 1916 300,000 people enrolled in the Venezuelan army.

1916: Venezuela declares war on Britain joining the Central Powers. Over the next year the Venezuelan army pushed through Guyana until they captured Georgetown. While the navy captures many British islands throughout the Caribbean.

1917: Brazil joins the Allies, though not at war the tensions grow between the two nations. On October 1917 a treaty was signed called the Caracas Agreement. In the treaty the two parties agreed not to go at war, but Venezuela had to give southern bits of territory to Brazil.

By October it ha  been several months since the United Sates joined th7e war with the Allies. Once again, tenetions were growing. Three U.S. ships set sail to Caracas, and on December 15 a peace conference iChrs held in Quebec City to end the conflict between Venezuela and the U.K., aswell to settle tentions between America and Venezuela.

On December 25 the peace treaty is signed, known as the "Christmas Treaty" established that the dispucted territory between the UK and Venezuela would be ceded in turn to drop out of the war, and that Venezuela would give 300,000 U.S. dollars to America to prevent war between the two nations.

On January 5 the Venezuelan president made a public announcement announsing how Venezuela has left the war, and gained the disputed Guyana territories.

I find this map quite satisfactory, coming from a Hispano-American born in Venezuela with Spanish blood.
It would have at least for me enough sense within the political context of my country at that time that was under a dictablanda like that of Pinochet in Chile that In our Time Line lasted until 1936 and it would not seem impossible to me that the semi-authoritarian regime of my country, less than 20 years after "losing" the Territory of Essequibo in a null and void Arbitral Award, tried to resort to it with support from the German Empire, even more so when a minor target of the German Empire during the First World War was to reduce and / or undermine the British influence in Europe or even the world.
Greetings from...
